Despite odd appearances they did not disappoint, monkey man intimidated the audience with sharp burst of vocals and a stare matched only by the intensity of the devil himself and b
y the end of the first song we all well and truly knew that they had control. Now to see such bleepy bleepy music being created live on stage is something special, and to see it performed with such dynamism takes the biscuit.

Now if I was feeling nasty I could say that as there set moved on it didn't go far, although they have a unique sound that will appeal to the indie kid and the techno head at the same time they didn't seem to leave their safe zone. Song after song seemed to be comprised of Martin Corrigan repeating one of two words over and over at speeds that should really be impossible for a human to reach, with repetitive and samey keyboard behind each and every song.
That said Alloy Mental have a fresh sound and thundered through song after song and made the night. They more than made up for the fact that through sheer stupidity I had managed to spend entire of The Whips set sat in old man spoons nursing a luke warm drink. I don't even begrudge the fact that I payed £10 to see only the one band instead of the two, ill just have to find the whip in a field some time this summer.
